The North East Link Project claims that it will plant two trees for every tree lost to the project. That is an estimated 52,000 trees to be planted. One of the problems is that many of the trees under threat from the project are mature, and are of on-going significant environmental value. Any replacements would be immature.
Currently, the felling of trees by NELP is continuing apace in Yallambie. The right picture shows two trees unfelled …. For now.
