The North East Link’s vandalism in the Koonung Linear Park in Mont Albert North proceeded apace today.
Photographs 1 and 2 below show the removal of trees on the south side of the Eastern Freeway, adjacent to the wetlands.
The North East Link Project has been removing vegetation in the wetlands precinct. Photograph 3, below, shows the wetlands, relatively intact, about a fortnight ago.
The area was a haven for birdlife. It is now significantly denuded of vegetation, as shown in Photograph 5 below.
Photograph 6, below, shows the “wetland” today in close up. The water is heavily polluted and contaminated with algae. No birdlife was in evidence.
